ELA Instruction Materials

Volusia County Schools is seeking public input on English Language Arts (ELA) instructional materials for grades K–12.
Your voice matters in shaping the curriculum that helps students become strong readers, writers, and thinkers. Whether you're a parent, educator, student, or community member, your feedback is welcome!
Course materials available for review include: 

  • K-5 English Language Arts
  • K-5 Dual Language (Spanish Language Arts)
  • 6-8 English Language Arts
  • 9-12 English Language Arts
  • Middle School Intensive Reading
  • High School Intensive Reading

Review opportunities will be held:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 4-6 p.m., at Olson Facilities, 3750 Olson Drive, Daytona Beach
  • Thursday, Nov. 13, from 4-6 p.m., at the DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave., DeLand

VCS Fall 2025 Instructional Job Fair

We are excited to announce that Volusia County Schools Fall 2025 Instructional Job Fair will be held virtually on Wednesday, November 19th. Virtual interview opportunities will be available. Interested job fair candidates must currently hold or be eligible for Florida Department of Education certification. All certifications are welcome to apply.

  • Teacher candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or higher and have a valid Florida Educator’s certificate.
  • Paraprofessional candidates must have an associate’s degree or higher OR pass the Para Pro test and successfully complete the VCS substitute training course (STAR).
  • All job offers are contingent upon meeting all requirements of the laws of Florida, and rules and regulations of the School Board concerning employment, and the verification and/or recording of all required documents in the Human Resources office.

  • Four-hour drug and alcohol class
  • Traffic law and substance abuse exam
  • Free Class E Knowledge exam online
  • Open to students at least 14 ½ years old
