School Bus Safety Measures

Safety Measures

  • Parents are encouraged to transport students in their personal vehicles to minimize student contact.
  • Parental support is requested to ensure social distancing guidelines are established at all bus stop locations.
  • Students are required to wear masks/face coverings while on the bus, unless a medical waiver has been provided.
  • Disposable masks will be available for any student without a face covering.
  • Temperature checks will be conducted on transportation personnel morning and afternoon.
  • Hand sanitizer has been established on all school buses.
  • Bus Operators and Attendants are required to use appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) while on the bus.
  • Ideally, students will be assigned 2 per seat, with a maximum of 52 seated on the school bus.
  • Assigned seating will be enforced to limit contact.
  • When boarding the bus, students will load from back to front, alternating rows.
  • When departing the bus, students will unload from front to back, alternating rows.
  • Transportation will be conducted with windows cracked and vents opened as needed to increase air circulation.
  • Transportation personnel will properly sanitize the bus twice per day once all students have been delivered to school.
    • Surfaces to be disinfected will include handrails, keypad and tablet.
  • School buses will be thoroughly disinfected weekly using a disinfect mist.  Students will not be on the bus.
    • This mist is effective for use on all interior school bus surfaces including seats, seat belts, walls, windows, and door.
