If a VCS student or employee shows signs of an infectious illness, they should stay home and NOT come to school! Notify school administration immediately.
If a student or employee is determined to have been in close contact with a COVID-19 infected person, but does not have symptoms of the infectious illness, they must quarantine for 10 days after the collection date of the first positive lab test.
Close contact is defined as being within six feet for 15 minutes or more (cumulative). Each instance requires contact tracing to make an informed decision in partnership with the Volusia County Health Department.
If a person who was exposed and doesn’t have symptoms gets tested with a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test on Day 6 or later and receives a negative result, then they may end quarantine after completion of Day 7.
This shortened COVID-19 quarantine period is based on the recommendation of the Volusia County Health Department in alignment with the new guidelines from the CDC in early December 2020. For more information about that guidance, please visit the CDC’s Web page at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/more/scientific-brief-options-to-reduce-quarantine.html.
If a student or employee who was quarantined develops symptoms, they should notify their school administration immediately.
VCS would like to remind students, parents, and employees to adhere to safety and health measures. Be sure to wear a face-covering, and make sure to cover both your mouth and nose. Wash your hands frequently, and practice social distancing whenever possible.
If you are sick, please stay home. Additional health and safety information is available on the VCS website: Safety & Health Procedures
