Volusia County Schools Achieves 95.6% Graduation Rate for Class of 2025, Marking Highest Rate in District History 

DELAND – Volusia County Schools (VCS) is proud to announce its 2024-2025 high school graduation rate is 95.6%. This marks a 1.9-percentage point increase from last year’s rate of 93.7% and the third consecutive year of growth for the district.  

Volusia County’s graduation rate is now 3.4 percentage points higher than the state average of 92.2.% and ranks ninth of the 67 school districts across the state. Additionally, Volusia ranks second of the 11 school districts in the Central Florida Coalition (CFC). 

“VCS’s continued upward trend in graduation rate, including improvements across student subgroups, is a reflection of our ongoing efforts to provide a top-tier education to our students, including individualized support that ensures students are prepared for success after high school,” said Dr. Carmen Balgobin, Superintendent of Volusia County Schools. “Congratulations to our graduates, and thank you to our educators, staff, families, community partners, and School Board for their dedication to student achievement.” 

Key highlights from the 2024-2025 graduation data include: 

  • The graduation rate for only the 11 traditional Volusia County high schools increased by 2.3 percentage points from 96.3% in 2023-2024 to 98.6% in 2024-2025.  

  • Nine of the district’s 11 traditional high schools saw an increase in graduation rates. 

  • The district is ninth in the state for its overall graduation rate. 

  • The graduation rate for only traditional district schools reached an all-time high of 98.6%. 

 

The graduation rates for VCS traditional high schools are: 

  • Atlantic High School: 98.4% 

  • DeLand High School: 99.1% 

  • Deltona High School: 99.2% 

  • Mainland High School: 95.8% 

  • New Smyrna Beach High School: 98.6% 

  • Pine Ridge High School: 97.7% 

  • Seabreeze High School: 98.6% 

  • Spruce Creek High School: 99.5% 

  • T. DeWitt Taylor Middle-High School: 99.2% 

  • University High School: 99.3% 

  • Volusia Online Learning: 94% 

 

VCS also experienced notable growth across several demographic groups: 

  • White students: 1.9 percentage points 

  • Black students: 2.1 percentage points 

  • Hispanic students: 2.1 percentage points 

  • Students with disabilities: 1.6 percentage points 

  • Economically disadvantaged students: 2.5 percentage points 

  • English Language Learners: 12.1 percentage points 

  • At-risk students: 31.5 percentage points 

 

These gains are a result of comprehensive support systems VCS high schools provide students beginning in 9th grade, personalized diploma pathways tailored to individual student needs, and access to in-school ACT, SAT, and Classic Learning Test (CLT) testing for juniors and seniors, recognizing that every student’s path to a four-year diploma is unique and equally valued.
