Volusia County Schools Announces Expanded Online Learning Opportunities for the 2025-26 School Year

DELAND, FL – Volusia County Schools is excited to announce the expansion of its online learning opportunities for the upcoming 2025-26 school year, including the introduction of the innovative VFlex+ program. These programs are designed to provide flexible and comprehensive educational options for students and families seeking alternative learning environments.

VFlex+ Program: A New Pathway for Home Education Students

The VFlex+ program is a part-time initiative tailored for home education students who desire the benefits of a full-time educational experience without the full-time commitment. VFlex+ allows students to enroll in up to six courses, offering academic counseling and support to help them stay on track for a high school diploma, should they choose to transition back to full-time schooling.

Key Features of VFlex+:

  • Tuition-free: VCS provides computers, tech support, and all services for free.
  • Flexible Course Enrollment: Students can take up to six courses.
  • Academic Support: Access to academic counseling and support services.
  • Pathway to Diploma: Maintains a pathway to a high school diploma.*
  • Ideal for Home Education Families: Perfect for families seeking flexibility and independence while ensuring academic rigor.

VFlex+ joins VCS’s two other online learning opportunities to offer a full range for students:

·      Volusia Online Learning (VOL): VOL provides comprehensive virtual education by bringing together the best technologies, curriculum, and local Volusia County teachers to provide an exceptional online educational experience. VOL offers a fully online public-school environment aligned with state standards, featuring virtual lessons, teacher discussions, and a variety of assessment tools. Students have access to their courses 24/7, allowing for flexible learning schedules. VOL students participate in live lessons, have access to one-on-one meetings with teachers, and upon completion of requirements, will graduate like all other VCS high schools.

·      VFlex Program: The VFlex program partners with traditional schools to offer a variety of core courses and electives for students in grades 6-12. This part-time program is designed to provide additional educational opportunities and support for students seeking to enhance their learning experience.

Information Sessions and Enrollment

In order to find out more information about and enroll in our virtual offerings such as VOL and VFlex+, parents should go to k12.vcsedu.org/online-learning and register for a virtual information session.
