Volusia County Schools and Volusia United Educators Instructional Settle Contract 

DELAND—Volusia County Schools and Volusia United Educators (VUE) Instructional have settled their contract. Highlights of the agreement include:  

  • An increase in the base teacher salary to $50,000. 

  • A 2% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for instructional staff with one or more years of service. 

  • A 0.65% salary increase through the Teacher Salary Increase Allocation (TSIA), which reflects a 0.54% increase to the Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP) base funding. 

  • Two days of paid bereavement leave. 

  • An increase of $2 in the retention supplement multiplier for each year of service. 

The next step in the process is to ratify the agreement. Further information regarding the ratification process and payment will be sent soon.

They are at the heart of everything we do in Volusia County, and we will always do what’s best for our teachers,” said Superintendent Dr. Carmen Balgobin. “We are proud that this agreement reflects our efforts to address key areas, including raising the salary for starting teachers and increasing retention pay for mid-year and veteran teachers as they continue to make a lasting impact in our classrooms. Thank you to our School Board, employees, students, parents, and community partners who continue to support our work to help every student achieve excellence.” 

In addition to salary increases, qualifying teachers receive pay supplements: 

  • Annual retention supplement ranging from $375 to over $5,000 for teachers with five or more years of experience based on the number of years they have been in VCS.  

  • Annual longevity supplement ranging from $100 to $1,500 for teachers with 11 or more years of experience.
