WE HAVE A DEAL!  Volusia County Schools and Volusia United Educators Reach Salary Agreement

DELAND – We are pleased to announce that the bargaining process has concluded between the district and VUE Instructional. Details of the negotiated agreement can be found below. The next step in the process is to ratify the agreement. All instructional employees will have the opportunity to view the agreement and vote on the contract regardless of membership status. Information regarding ratification dates will be released as soon as possible. The contract will then be presented to the board for approval. Once it is board-approved, dates for salary increases and retro payments will be communicated.

Instructional personnel will be receiving a total package of $11.7 million dollars distributed in the following manner:

• $5 Million in Teacher Salary Allocation (TSIA) increases all teacher salaries according to legislation
• $2.1 Million to continue the Longevity Supplement previously bargained (this is currently negotiated and not included in the $11.7 million dollar offer)
• $3.9 Million in a retention supplement for VCS employees with 10 or more years of service
• $2.6 Million increase to advanced degree supplements
• $250,000 in a one-time bonus for ESE instructional personnel who do not currently receive a stipend
   

This deal includes the priorities established by the salary committee. Superintendent, Dr. Carmen Balgobin wishes to express her gratitude to both bargaining teams. “I am pleased that an agreement was reached that raises the minimum teacher salary and includes increases for veteran teachers. This deal reflects the priorities of the salary committee and demonstrates our commitment to addressing the salary compression that has occurred due to recent legislation.”
