VPK Program Applications Available Beginning in April

 

DELAND — The School District of Volusia County will provide a free, full-day Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Program during the 2020-2021 school year.  Families zoned for the hosting schools with a child who will be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2020 are eligible to apply for this VPK Early Learning Initiative. 

Hosting schools are Discovery, Edgewater Public, Forest Lake, Friendship, Holly Hill, Indian River, McInnis, Orange City, Palm Terrace, Pierson, Sugar Mill, Sunrise, Starke, Timbercrest, Turie T. Small and Westside elementary. In addition, a VPK program for families zoned for Horizon, Port Orange and South Daytona elementary schools will be hosted at Atlantic High School.

All sites will operate the program during regular school days and follow the district’s school year calendar. Transportation will not be provided.

Parents may complete an application at their zoned school beginning April 15, 2020.  To participate, a child must:

  • be zoned for the hosting schools
  • be 4 years-old on or before September 1, 2020;
  • be a resident of Volusia County living within the school zone; and
  • have a current, valid 2020-2021 school year Certificate of Eligibility from the Early Learning Coalition of Flagler and Volusia County – (386) 323-2400, or www.elcfv.org
