DELAND – There is still time for Volusia County Schools families to select the virtual Volusia Live option if that best meets their child’s needs – even if the student was not previously pre-registered for a specific Learning Option.
Parents who would prefer to choose Option 2, Volusia Live (real-time live streaming), should contact their school of enrollment now to make arrangements for that option.
Volusia Live students will learn from home following the same daily class schedule as their classmates who are in the traditional classroom at their regular school of enrollment. Students will participate in classroom instruction by logging in on a device and engaging with their teacher virtually, using platforms such as Zoom or Teams. Attendance will be taken, and students will need to log in for class on time daily.
About 60% of VCS students were pre-registered in July and early August. Students who were not pre-registered have been automatically enrolled in the Traditional Classroom option. If the family prefers the Traditional Classroom option, there is no need to contact their school of enrollment.
Enrollment in the full-time Enhanced Volusia Online Learning has now closed for fall 2020; however, part-time EVOL is still an option. Go to www.volusiaonlinelearning.com for more information.
The new school year begins Monday, Aug. 31. Details on the features of VCS’ Learning Options, as well as virtual Parent Information Sessions, videos from those sessions, and answers to frequently asked questions, is available on the Reopening Roadmap website at https://www.vcsedu.org/reopening-roadmap.
