DELAND – Volusia County Schools is offering more virtual Parent Information Sessions to give VCS families information about the fall reopening plan and answer questions from parents.
The next Parent Information Sessions will be held 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, and additional sessions will be scheduled between now and the start of school on Monday, Aug. 31. The sessions are offered by level (elementary, middle, and high school), and parents only need to attend one session per level. Representatives from the Exceptional Student Education and English Language Learners departments will participate in each session, as well.
Links to the virtual meetings can be found on the Parent Information Sessions page.
Parents are encouraged to review Q&As about Reopening on the Reopening Roadmap website prior to joining their Parent Information Session to see if answers to their questions can be found there.
The Reopening Roadmap website also includes safety and health procedures, protocols for how Covid-19 will be handled, school and classroom procedures, frequently asked questions for VCS employees, and overviews of the three Learning Options.
About 60% of VCS students pre-registered for one of the three Learning Options: the Traditional Classroom setting, Volusia Live (real-time live streaming, and Enhanced Volusia Online Learning. Of the 37,014 students who were pre-registered, 51% will attend the Traditional Classroom; 31% will attend virtually through Volusia Live; and 18% will use Enhanced Volusia Online Learning.
Students who were not pre-registered will be automatically enrolled in the Traditional Classroom option. Parents who would prefer to choose Option 2, Volusia Live (real-time live streaming), should contact their school of enrollment. Enrollment in full-time Volusia Online Learning has now closed for fall 2020; however, part-time VOL is still an option. For students who are not currently enrolled as a Volusia County School student, please contact the school of enrollment to register.
