DELAND – Volusia County Schools students in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program received a 93.79% average pass rate for Spring 2021 assessments.

IB is a rigorous, pre-university course of study for academically motivated students, who can earn college credit by completing IB courses and passing exams in six subject groups.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is one of several advanced high school programs offered in Volusia County Schools. IB is offered at Spruce Creek and DeLand high schools, with students countywide eligible to apply to the program.

This year, VCS students had a total of 1,659 IB scores reported in 34 assessed subject areas. Students had a 93.79% average pass rate for Spring 2021 assessments, which is a 13.54% increase from Spring 2020. Comparing data from the 2020 school year to the 2021 school year shows that 85.71% of assessments' pass rate has either increased or remained the same.

“I am so proud of our IB students and their teachers and administrators,” said VCS Superintendent Dr. Scott Fritz. “Achieving this level of success shows our students’ and staff members’ high level of commitment and strength even through the challenging last few months. We know these students will continue to make us proud as they start their post-secondary studies and careers.”
