The 2019 Volusia County World Languages Festival will take place on Saturday, March 30, at DeLand High School, 800 North Hill Avenue, DeLand, FL 32724. The Opening Ceremony starts at 9 a.m. in the auditorium and includes a Parade of Flags and scholarship awards for Volusia County World languages students.
Volusia County world language students will showcase their linguistic skills and cultural knowledge by participating in poetry and impromptu speaking competitions, art displays, talent show, world language karaoke, traditional world dress, Japanese cultural experience, Pétanque, food booths and Certamen, a global academic competition. Parents, family members and friends are encouraged to attend. There are 780 student entries in 22 events, including up to six levels of five of the world languages instructed in Volusia County Schools. This year, the keynote address will be delivered by former Florida Department of Education Commissioner Pam Stewart.
