It is with a heavy heart that we share that Tom Russell, former Superintendent of Volusia County Schools, has passed away. Mr. Russell was with VCS for 28 years. During that time, he had many different roles – he was a teacher, an Assistant Principal, a Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent. He was a kind and compassionate educator, leader, and friend. He will be greatly missed here in Volusia County, as well as in Flagler County where he was Principal of Flagler Palm Coast High School. Our deepest condolences go out to his wife, Julie, his children, and grandchildren, as well as the many colleagues and friends who worked with him over the years. Please keep the Russell family in your thoughts in the coming days.
