This afternoon negotiating teams for the Volusia County School Board and the support staff union, the Volusia United Educators-Support (VUE), reached a historic 3-year settlement on all issues. This bargaining unit is comprised of clerical personnel and paraprofessionals.
The settlement provides average raises of up to 7.5% for over the next three years. The raises are retroactive to July 1, 2018. Bonuses of $350 will also be paid for this school year.
A three-year deal was also reached with the teachers' Union yesterday. A settlement with the trades Union, AFSCME, was approved earlier this month. This completes the negotiation process with all unions.
Superintendent Tom Russell said, "Raises are coming to our hardworking employees and now we can put our entire focus on student achievement." VUE President Elizabeth Albert said, "We are happy to settle this contract for our educational support personnel. We made significant gains in the areas of salaries, working hours and conditions."
The settlement will be presented to the school board and employees for ratification.
