Scholarships for 3-5th Graders

Parents, the Florida Department of Education is providing reading scholarships to eligible students to assist in accessing services to improve reading.

Detailed information and forms for each eligible student will be coming from your school this week, so please be on the lookout!

Eligibility Requirements:

  • All 3rd-5th Grade students currently enrolled in a Florida public school AND who must have scored a level 1 or 2 on the ELA test in 2018-2019


  • Enrolled in a LOWEST 300 performing school in 2018-2019
  • Enrolled in a Florida Public School that earned a D or F in 2018-2019
  • Identified in the 2019-2020 school year as having substantial deficiency in reading based on their MOST recent available screening/progress monitoring assessment 
  • Students classified as ELL and are receiving ELL services will receive priority

Parents must apply online via the website. The scholarship will be awarded on a first-come first-served basis. 

Scholarships of $500 can be used for these services:

  • Tuition & fees related to part-time tutoring
  • Summer & after-school literacy programs
  • Instructional materials and reading related curriculum
