The first of four FACT (Family and Community Together) Fairs for the 2019 -2020 school year, sponsored by the Title I office of Volusia County Schools, will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in the gymnasium at Deland High School, 800 North Hill Avenue, Deland. The fair is designed to support the needs of Title I families and enrich parents’ involvement in their child’s education. While the fairs are designed with Title I schools in mind, families from all schools are welcome to attend.
Title I schools on the west side of the county are Blue Lake Elementary, Citrus Grove, Deltona Lakes Elementary, Deltona Middle School, Discovery Elementary, Enterprise Elementary, Forest Lake Elementary, Friendship Elementary, Galaxy Middle School, Heritage Middle School, Highbanks Learning Center, Legacy Scholars, Manatee Cove Elementary, McInnis Elementary, Orange City Elementary, Osteen Elementary, Pierson Elementary, Pine Ridge High School, Pride Elementary, Richard Milburn Learning Center, Spirit Elementary, Southwestern Middle School, Starke Elementary, Sunrise Elementary School, Taylor Middle/High School, Timbercrest Elementary, Volusia Pines Elementary and Woodward Elementary.
Volusia County Schools and community organizations are working together to provide parents with information about free resources available to families, including support for health concerns, affordable housing, public safety, voluntary pre-kindergarten, secondary education opportunities and much more.
Free books and food will be available. Information about elementary reading, writing, science, technology and math will be provided. Parents may also learn about tutoring services, Title I programs, Exceptional Student Education services, mentoring opportunities, graduation requirements and technology in the schools. Entertainment will be provided in the auditorium by talented students.
Numerous free family activities will be available in the gymnasium. The F.A.C.T. Fairs are sponsored by the Title I Parent & Family Engagement office for Volusia County Schools.
