Benefit election must be done within 30 days of your HIRE date! Once you've completed and confirmed the benefits election process, coverage will become effective on the first of the month following 45 days from your hire date.

Health Insurance Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) for 2019-2020
Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), otherwise known as health care reform, group health plans must provide consumers with a concise document detailing, in plain language, simple and consistent information about health plan benefits and coverage. The SBC documents will help you better understand the coverage you have and allow you to easily compare different coverage options. The SBCs will summarize the key features of each plan or coverage, such as the covered benefits, cost-sharing provisions, and coverage limitations and exceptions. Some terms in the SBC appear in bold face and are underlined. These terms are defined in the Uniform Glossary, a companion document to the SBC. These definitions are intended to help improve consumer understanding.

If you are a new employee who has never been enrolled in the Florida Retirement System, you do have an initial choice of retirement plans and you'll have five months to decide which plan is best for you. FRS will mail your New Employee Enrollment Kit between the first and second months of your employment. Your kit will include your PIN number and a DVD.

Hired on or before December 31, 2017? Your plan choice deadline is 4:00 p.m. ET on the last business day of the fifth month following your month of hire.
Hired on or after January 1, 2018? Your plan choice deadline is 4:00 p.m. ET on the last business day of the eighth month following your month of hire.
