The Instructional Materials Department strives to provide students, schools and faculties of Volusia County Schools with the highest quality of instructional materials to meet its educational goals and support 21st Century teaching and learning. We follow all Florida State Guidelines and Procedures in choosing the best materials possible and it is our goal to affect student achievement in the highest way possible as well as Volusia County School Board Policy 321 for selection and review.
The materials chosen by the committee are as follows and will be presented to the School Board February 9 and moved to approve on March 9.

- Secondary: HMH Florida Into Literature 6-12: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH)

- English Language Arts Adoption
This year the state of Florida’s Materials Adoption focuses on English Language Arts (ELA) for Kindergarten through Grade 12. We encourage all Volusia County stakeholders to look at and provide feedback for the potential materials. Materials have been sent to each school for faculty review through January 12, 2021. For community members, below is a link to the online versions of the materials, along with the username and password you will need. The Volusia County Instructional Materials Department will also provide three opportunities for the community to peruse the print materials.
- Objections to The Adoption of Instructional Materials
PETITION TO CONTEST ADOPTION OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS Pursuant to Florida 1006.28, parents of public school students may petition to contest the adoption of instructional materials within 30 days of the announcement of the intent to adopt. Petitions will be heard at a Public Hearing within 30 days after the adoption waiting period has expired. Decisions of the School Board of Volusia County, Florida are final and no further protests will be heard.
