Parent Information

Mission Statement

Volusia County Schools LEA will collaborate with schools and the community to increase parent and family engagement in our student's education.

Just for Parents

What is Title I?

Title I is a federal aid program that provides funds to help students succeed academically. These funds are used to help students meet the state's high standards, particularly in the areas of reading, mathematics, science, and writing.

Understanding Title I Programs

How does a school become eligible for Title I funds?

Schools become eligible for Title I funds based on the number of students that qualify for the Free and Reduced Meal Program. Schools with a poverty rate of 75% or higher automatically receive funds, and those with lower rates may receive funds if they are available.

Parents' Guide to Student Success

Helpful guides are provided by the National PTA to explain what your child will learn in each grade level, up to 8th grade. They also include suggestions for helping your child at home. The national PTA website contains excellent resources and may be accessed at National PTA.

FACT Fairs

Volusia County Schools in partnership with community resources share information with families ranging from curriculum, health, legal, housing, emergency responders, technology, early childhood to post-secondary education, and more. The exhibitors and workshops are set up in a middle or high school gym. The FACT Fair offers information, food, entertainment and giveaways FREE! The first 50-75 families to register, complete the giveaway card and survey receive a backpack or a bag of groceries. It is an event that brings the families, community and schools together in support of our children's academic success.

Parents-to-Kids (PTK)

The Parents-to-Kids (PTK) program is offered in English and Spanish to students and families in grades K-2 and grades 3-5 to promote reading and literacy skills at home. During this program, families will learn strategies to practice at home with their children. Title I provides the funding for books, supplies, teachers, and childcare personnel.
