Florida Parental Information and Resource Center at the University of South Florida

The Florida Parental Information and Resource Center at the University of South Florida (Florida PIRC at USF) is a federally funded project of the US Department of Education which began in October, 2006. Their office is located on Fletcher Avenue in Tampa. The Florida PIRC at USF provides training and technical assistance to schools and districts on ways to effectively involve parents in their children’s education in order for all students to achieve at the highest academic level. The Florida PIRC at USF also helps schools and districts meet the requirements for parent involvement of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB), Title I legislation. The Florida PIRC at USF especially seeks to support families of children who may be educationally disadvantaged because of economic factors, differences in language, or learning challenges. Significant emphasis also is given to supporting early childhood parent education, recognizing that a solid foundation for learning is best established in the early years.

What can the Florida PIRC at USF do for you and your child’s school?

  1. Provide training, information, and services that strengthen the relationship between parents, schools, and early childhood programs.
  2. Coordinate, collaborate, and network to increase parent involvement for academic achievement by increasing understanding and best use of state and federal systems and safeguards.
  3. Develop and support research‐based parent involvement practices that improve student achievement.

Access Programs

Autism Spectrum Disorder

As the first national autism organization, the Autism Society’s strong foundation is based around its local affiliates. Fueled by passion and the desire to support all touched by autism, the Autism Society’s Affiliate Network has grown throughout the years but still holds true to the belief that the best source of information and support comes at the grassroots level.

Through the exchange of resources, problem-solving ideas, understanding personal struggles, celebrating individual successes and sharing “lessons learned”, affiliates can make your journey with autism a little bit easier. Most affiliates are volunteer-led by groups of parents, professionals and community leaders. We have affiliates in nearly every state reaching out to individuals with autism, their families and their communities.
