World Languages Festival

Volusia County World Languages Festival is an annual celebration of the world languages and cultures that are taught in Volusia County Schools. Competitions include impromptu speaking events, poetry recital, talent show performances, technology, artwork and global projects, all judged by teachers and community members. There is a competition on world trivia, where each school’s 4-member team competes against other schools. There are experience rooms, as well as food from around the world. Scholarships are awarded to Volusia County’s dedicated world languages students, funded by local sponsors.

2026 World Languages Festival Celebrates Languages, Cultures, and Student Achievement

Deltona High School proudly hosted the 2026 Volusia County Schools World Languages Festival, welcoming more than 400 students from across the district for a day of language, culture, and celebration.

The festival began with a vibrant Parade of Flags, showcasing cultures and countries from around the world. Throughout the day, students demonstrated their talents and language proficiency through a variety of events, including Declamation, Impromptus, Art Chalk, Art Gallery, Cultural Bookmarks, and a multilingual Talent Show featuring performances in Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and American Sign Language.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of five scholarships to outstanding students in recognition of their dedication and achievement in world language learning.

The festival also featured energetic cultural performances by the Mambo Dance Group from University High School, directed by Mrs. Linda López Rivera, and the Deltona High School Latin Dance Group, led by Ms. Natascha Currás.

Congratulations to all participating students for their hard work and enthusiasm. Thank you to the teachers, families, volunteers, and sponsors whose support helped make this year's festival a memorable success. Together, we continue to celebrate the importance of language learning, cultural understanding, and global citizenship.

Looking ahead: We will be hosting the 2026–2027 World Languages Festival in Spring 2027 at Deltona High School. More announcements will be made, so stay tuned!
