Florida Seal of Biliteracy

Students have the opportunity to earn the Florida Seal of Biliteracy. This graduation distinction is earned with 4 years of a world language with a 3.0 average or the required score on an approved assessment. Eligible students must also earn the required ELA FSA score. The Seal of Biliteracy is intended to identify students with 21st Century global and linguistic competency for prospective employers and college admissions. It is also intended to honor the multiple cultures and languages spoken within our communities.

Volusia County Schools Celebrate Seal of Biliteracy Recipients!
This year, more than 300 outstanding students across all Volusia County high schools earned the prestigious Seal of Biliteracy, showcasing their mastery in a wide range of world languages.
Languages represented include those taught within our schools—Spanish, French, German, Japanese, ASL—as well as languages spoken and studied by our multilingual students such as Portuguese, Hindi, Mandarin, Arabic, Bulgarian, Turkish, and Latin.
During each school's Senior Awards ceremony, Seal recipients proudly received their Gold and Silver certificates and honor cords, marking their linguistic achievements with pride and distinction.
A special shout-out to Joedee Lynn Tracy Veillard, a remarkable student from Spruce Creek High School, who earned three Gold Seals in Spanish, French, and Haitian Creole—a true testament to linguistic excellence!
