VPK Summer Bridge

Welcome to the VPK Summer Bridge Program!

Summer Bridge is a FREE summer program offered by the school district to help eligible VPK students get ready for kindergarten. To qualify for the Summer Bridge Program, children must have attended a VPK program during the 2024–2025 school year at either a public or private school and have a valid Statement of Eligibility.

The VPK Summer Bridge Program provides early literacy instructional support before participating in kindergarten to VPK children who scored below the 10th percentile on the final administration of the Coordinated Screening and Progress Monitoring (PM3) on the FAST Star Early Literacy assessment or who had a non-participation status of “assessment inappropriate,” “failed practice,” or “non-English speaker.”

Summer Bridge Program Information

Program Dates: June 20th - July 31st
Program hours: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. *Student arrival begins at 7:45 am.
Transportation: is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
Breakfast and lunch are not included.
 

How to Enroll in the Program

1- Contact your VPK provider for eligibility and the Statement of Eligibility.
2- Contact a Volusia County Schools VPK Summer Bridge Program site registrar.

Required registration documents

  • Statement of Eligibility from the VPK provider.
  • Original birth certificate
  • Current shot record (Florida Form 680)
  • current physical record (Florida Physical Form 3040)
  • 2 documents as proof of residency in Volusia County school zone which clearly indicate parents'/guardians' names: (copy of lease or rental agreement, property deed or utility bill.)

    We’re proud to support New Worlds Reading!

Enrolled students in the Summer Bridge Program are eligible to participate in the New Worlds Reading InitiativeNew Worlds Reading is Florida’s FREE home literacy program that delivers books and reading activities to eligible VPK–5th grade.

To be eligible, kids must be VPK-5th grade who are not yet meeting grade level expectations in reading in Florida VPK programs, public schools, and charter schools. The program is administered by the UF Lastinger Center for Learning, who has selected Scholastic as a partner. Books are selected in collaboration with the Florida Department of Education. In addition, New Worlds Reading offers scholarships through Step Up For Students. The New Worlds Scholarship empowers VPK and K-5 public school students struggling with reading and math by providing essential resources and interventions.
