A dedicated educator and transformative leader, Dr. Julio Nazario-Valle boasts an exceptional career driving student outcome through a relentless focus on achievement, data-driven reform, and innovative instructional strategies. Originally a math teacher from Chicago, Dr. Nazario-Valle relocated to Florida to pursue advanced leadership degrees while teaching and working as a college math professor.

Leveraging his skills as an empowering, collaborative change agent, Dr. Nazario-Valle orchestrated profound turnarounds as Principal in multiple high-needs schools. Most notably, he spear-headed the rapid transformation of a struggling 100% Title I middle school, increasing its grade in just one year. His proven model of hands-on leadership, candid data conversations and purposeful coaching uplifted teacher effectiveness and fostered a student-centered culture of high expectations.

Named Lead State Director for the FL Department of Education’s Bureau of School Improvement, Dr. Nazario-Valle oversaw statewide reform initiatives targeting chronically underperforming schools. Under his administration, over 50 schools exited state watchlists, 100% of F-schools improved, and 84% of struggling schools showed letter grade gains.

As Chief Academic Officer in Volusia County Schools, Dr. Nazario-Valle continues to engineer substantial advancement in student outcomes. His strategic vision elevates evidence-based practices while welcoming teacher voice and feedback. During his tenure, graduation rates have climbed an impressive 2.7 points to 91.6%, the number of A-rated schools more than doubled, and no elementary/middle schools declined a letter grade.

Blending compassionate understanding with data-driven accountability, Dr. Julio Nazario-Valle creates empowering cultures centering equity and achievement. His blend of instructional expertise, systemic reform experience and collaborative leadership cement his reputation as an educator able to forge progress in even the most challenging contexts.
