Homeschooling Information

The Home Education Information Packet contains the information parents need to know to expedite the process of registering to homeschool.

Florida law requires written notification to the Superintendent of schools of the county in which the parent resides of intent to establish and maintain a home education program. The notice shall be filed in the Superintendent’s office within 30 days of establishment of the home education program.

Parents who choose enrollment with a private home education program or school “out of state”, including correspondence schools, are still required to register as a homeschooler with their local school district.

Parents who choose enrollment with a private home education program or school “within the state of Florida” are not required to register as a homeschooler with their local school district. They must, however, withdraw their child from the public school in which they were enrolled.

Parents may request that their home schooled child take the FSA test (at their zoned school). They must first pre-register with the Home Education Office.
