Mission

The Fire, Health & Safety Department is committed to fostering a safe, healthy, and secure learning environment for all students, staff, and visitors. Through proactive risk management, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance, we strive to protect lives and property, promote wellness, and ensure that every school facility meets the highest standards of safety. Our mission is to support educational excellence by minimizing disruptions and empowering our community with the knowledge and tools to respond effectively to safety challenges.
 

Services:

  • Fire Safety & Prevention: Coordinating fire drills, maintaining fire suppression systems, and ensuring compliance with fire codes and regulations.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Developing and implementing emergency response plans for incidents such as severe weather, hazardous materials, and lockdown situations.
  • Safety Audits & Assessments: Conducting district-wide safety and security assessments using state-mandated tools like the Florida Safe Schools Assessment Tool (FSSAT). These assessments help identify risks and ensure compliance with best practices.
  • Collaboration with Law Enforcement & Health Agencies: Working closely with local law enforcement, fire departments, and health officials to coordinate responses and share intelligence related to school safety.
