Proposed Attendance Boundary Changes

1. Why do the attendance boundaries need to be changed?

The Edith I. Starke replacement school was built with additional capacity to help balance student enrollment in the area.

2. When would my new school assignment take effect?

If approved, the new school attendance boundaries would take effect in August 2026.

3. How were the areas selected?

Following guidance from the school board, staff considered natural boundary lines like major roadways and neighborhoods.

4. I have a rising fifth grade student. Can they remain at their current school?

Rising fifth grade students may remain at their current school by filling out a Freedom Elementary Grandfather Request form. Due to limited resources, transportation may not be provided. The form can be found on the Student Choice webpage here.

5. Will transportation be provided for my student?

Transportation is typically not provided for students who reside within their school's 2-mile non-transport zone. Student Transportation Services will have more information regarding special accommodations. 

6. What type of notification will be sent to parents?

Notifications will be sent via US Mail inviting parents/guardians of affected students to attend a community information meeting. Parents/guardians will also be informed via School Messenger, and letters will be distributed in class. If the new attendance boundaries are adopted by the school board, notification will be sent via US Mail advising of the board's decision.

7. Where do I register my child for kindergarten?

If the school board adopts the proposed attendance boundaries for the 2026-27 school year, parents can register their kindergartner at their new school.
