Business Services
The Business Services division provides the necessary support for the required processes to enable the district to award contracts, hire consultants, and bid projects. This division also initiates new capital projects such as new school construction, major renovations, and building additions. Major functions of the Business Services division are to ensure compliance with school board policies as it relates to:
- Assist in development and implementation of the capital work program
- Review vendor proposals
- Submit purchase requisitions
- Review construction change orders and purchase order adjustments
- Reconcile vendor invoices and contractor pay applications
- Review and reconcile owner direct purchases
- Close liaison with Budget, Construction, Finance, and Procurement departments.
Planning
The Planning division supports district operations through the collection and analysis of student enrollment, local trends, and economic data to provide recommendations relative to student enrollments and projections, the capital budget, program relocations and/or expansion.
The Planning division is also responsible for the more traditional functions such as real estate transactions, growth management functions including implementing Section 206 of the Volusia County Charter, and intergovernmental coordination.
The division represents the school district on the River to Sea Transportation Planning Organization’s Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory and Technical Coordination Committee’s. It also has a representative at the School Crossing Guard Evaluation Committee, the International Speedway Boulevard (ISB) Coalition and the Volusia Growth Management Commission.
