The State Reporting Team serves as the official liaison between Volusia County Schools and the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) for the collection, validation, and submission of student information required by the State of Florida.
Accurate state reporting is essential to ensuring district accountability, compliance with state and federal requirements, school accountability calculations, and the appropriate distribution of educational funding. Our team works collaboratively with schools, district departments, and Information Technology Services to ensure that student data is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
Our Responsibilities
The State Reporting Team is responsible for:
- Coordinating all required Florida Department of Education student data submissions
- Managing state reporting survey cycles
- Validating student enrollment, attendance, demographics, scheduling, program participation, and other required data
- Monitoring data quality and integrity throughout the school year
- Supporting school and district staff with state reporting requirements
- Interpreting and communicating changes to Florida reporting rules and technical specifications
- Working closely with Student Information Systems, Accountability, Curriculum, Exceptional Student Education, Finance, Human Resources, and other departments to ensure consistent and accurate reporting
- Assisting with district and state audits related to student data
State Reporting Surveys
Throughout the school year, the State Reporting Team prepares and submits multiple survey collections required by the Florida Department of Education. These surveys provide critical information used for:
- Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP) funding
- School and district accountability
- Graduation rate calculations
- Student performance reporting
- Federal reporting requirements
- Legislative reporting
- Educational planning and policy decisions
Each survey undergoes extensive validation before submission to ensure the highest level of data accuracy and compliance.

The State Reporting Team provides leadership to schools and departments with procedures and processes to ensure compliance with state rules and accurate reporting of all state reporting requirements including Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) of students. Support and direction is provided to schools and departments for student registration, attendance procedures, data coding. They also maintain required documentation to support federal and state audits, survey reporting, and attendance requirements.
