Student Information Systems Team

  • Stays abreast of Federal and State statutory requirements and translates this to actionable processes and workflows. Monitors state and local board policy to ensure the SIS system provides support for required rules and practices.
  • Provides support for enrollment & registration, attendance record keeping, student scheduling, grading, assessment tracking, discipline, a variety of special programs. Develops SIS software thru modifications, programming, and specialized workflows. 
  • Extracts, validates, and reports all FLDOE required data for required state reporting surveys by coordinating with district leaders to validate information and ensure data is accurate and reliable.
  • Develops integrations with other applications to export/import SIS data for systems such as single-sign-on classroom applications, assessment administration, ESE IEP service management, medicaid service tracking, grade book, learning management systems, student transportation, and direct certification.
  • Maintains data warehouses such as an Ed-Fi eco-system to provide as an optimal structure for visualization tools and summaries to enhance data-driven decision making, analysis, and trend identification.
  • Provides continual daily collaboration, professional development, system support, and new employee training among VCS departments and schools.

Four Working Groups:

Development & Database Administration – Supports all Focus SIS feature implementations, custom programming, software integrations, and data warehouse management. 

State Reporting – Manages compliance with all Federal, State, and VCS School Board requirements by working with district and school personnel throughout the year. This includes Enrollment & Registration, Attendance, Discipline and a variety of Special Programs. 

Master Scheduling and Class Size – Supports the Master Scheduling process for each public school by establishing timelines and deadlines and reviewing procedures, processes, and data regularly. This includes the Master School ID (MSID) and FISH coordination with the FLDOE, a review of Class Size and Teacher Certification and grade reporting processes. 

Student Information Support – Provides elevated support for SIS users regarding their daily work. They also ensure timely and accurate communication is shared with district and school users throughout the year regarding important seasonal processes and software updates that occur working closely with the rest of the SIS team to ensure they are informed of new requirements, strategies, and implementations.
