Teaching & Learning Applications Team

  • Delivers multiple professional development experiences for educators to learn how to use educational technology effectively.
  • Leads the vetting of new software for the district to ensure systems compatibility, security, data protection, and more.
  • Tests new hardware and software in educational environments as a vital step for any new implementation.
  • Works with educational software user managers and vendors to roster systems for schools and classrooms.

Below you will see three diagrams that provide guidance for our educators in what educational software should be used in VCS. We have 600+ vetted applications in our software catalog. We know that can be a little overwhelming for a teacher trying to figure out what to use in their classroom. So the first diagram below shows the key applications every educator should master. The applications in the middle are for everyone while the others are by content area.

The other two diagrams below show a categorization of the AI applications we use in VCS for different purposes for staff or students.

Using only school district–supported AI applications is essential because it ensures that students are engaging with tools that meet established standards for data privacy, safety, accessibility, and instructional quality. District‑approved AI platforms—such as Copilot, Canva Magic Write, and Khanmigo—are vetted to protect student information, align with curriculum goals, and function reliably within our technology ecosystem, preventing issues that arise when unsupported tools conflict with district systems. By relying on approved applications, educators can confidently integrate AI into teaching and learning, knowing the tools are both legally compliant and instructionally sound while also promoting equitable, secure, and responsible use of emerging technologies.
