Network Engineering Team
The Network Engineering Team supports the underlying technical infrastructure of the entire district, responsible for designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the network that connects everything. This includes:
- Physical infrastructure: This refers to the cables, routers, switches, and wireless access points that enable devices to communicate across the network.
- Firewall and filtering systems: This includes all the programs and applications used to comply with the The Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA).
- Device connectivity: This includes desktops, laptops, tablets, and even some specialized equipment like interactive panels, thermostats, and other IoT devices.
The Network Engineering Team keeps this complex system running smoothly. Their responsibilities include:
- Supporting digital learning initiatives: Our schools are incorporating online learning tools and resources into the curriculum. A strong network ensures these tools function properly.
- Improving communication and collaboration: Teachers and students can collaborate more effectively with a reliable network for video conferencing, file sharing, and online learning platforms.
- Telecommunications: from telephone handsets to cell phones, communication with the community, parents, and first responders all rely on a dependable network for telecommunications services.
- Providing access to educational resources: Students need internet access for research, online courses, and educational software.
The district has 30Gbps of secure and CIPA-compliant internet access, recommended by the FCC. Overall, this team plays a vital role in creating a foundation for a successful digital learning environment. They keep the network running smoothly so that teachers, staff, and students can focus on learning and teaching.
