In-Service for Non-employees
Educators not currently employed with Volusia County Schools may submit an application and fee to participate in professional development offerings through Volusia County Schools and earn in-service points to use for the renewal of the educator's professional teaching certificate. A $100 fee will be charged for this service and the fee will cover the 5-year professional certificate validity period regardless of the number of in-service points needed. An Application for Professional Development Services for Non-Employees must be submitted to Wanda Conley, , Professional Learning. Please contact Wanda Conley, to make sure that this method of earning in-service points is what you need; for example teachers submit college courses taken or taught and subject area exam information within the current renewal period directly to the FLDOE without using in-service points.
Please understand that priority for in-district trainings will go to our current VCS employees, so if a seat for a training is needed for a current employee, the instructor has the right to remove a non-employee from the roster of the course so that the current employee can take the training. Certain trainings are meant only for current employees, for example non-employees cannot take endorsement courses through VCS; the availability of the course will be determined by each instructor of the course.
Volusia County Schools does not offer an EPI program; the FLDOE website has a list of institutions that offer this program.
In-Service for Current Substitute Teachers
Active Substitute Teachers for Volusia County Schools now have employee access to MyPGS; no application or fee required.
ATTENTION Non-employees - Please note the Teaching Students with Disabilities requirement for recertification of ALL professional certificates.
