The Volusia County Schools STEM Program provides innovative, hands-on learning opportunities that inspire curiosity, creativity, and career readiness for students across the district. The programs are designed to engage students in authentic science, technology, engineering, and mathematics experiences that build critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills. Through partnerships with industry, universities, and community organizations, students are exposed to real-world STEM applications and career pathways while participating in programs that extend learning beyond the traditional classroom.

Key components of the Volusia STEM Program include the STEM Bus Program, which brings mobile STEM laboratories directly to schools and community events with activities such as robotics, coding, virtual reality, engineering design, and scientific investigations. The VCS Field STEM Program at Spruce Creek Parkprovides immersive outdoor learning experiences where students conduct environmental research, collect field data, and explore biological, environmental, and marine science concepts in natural ecosystems. Students can further develop their engineering and technology skills through Robotics Programs, including FIRST competitions, VMA’s Robot Brawl, engineering challenges, and district robotics events that promote teamwork, innovation, and perseverance. Additionally, the Young Women in STEM initiative empowers girls to explore STEM careers through mentorship, field experiences, leadership opportunities, and partnerships with organizations such as Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Together, these programs ensure that Volusia County Schools students have equitable access to engaging STEM experiences that prepare them for success in college, careers, and the workforce of the future.
