Academics

Volusia County Schools students are engaging in high levels of learning at all levels every day! Our youngest learners at the elementary level are participating in French and Spanish language immersion programs, while our high school students are studying a diverse array of advanced academics like Advanced Placement, Cambridge AICE, and International Baccalaureate courses. VCS offers more than 100 Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and academies at both the middle and high school levels, including Entrepreneurship, Aerospace, Culinary Arts, Engineering, Agriculture, Health Services, Welding, Finance, Criminal Justice, and Firefighting. Students also participate in dual enrollment and work-based learning, providing them with opportunities for college credit and real-world experience. In 2023-24, VCS students earned nearly 4,800 industry certifications, preparing them to enter the workforce after high school or continue their studies.

The class of 2024 earned nearly 4,200 scholar designations, over 900 industry scholar designations, over 300 seals of biliteracy, over 100 Associate's degrees, and over $32 million in scholarship dollars, as well as volunteered more than 245,000 community service hours.
