A Kelly Education recruiter will work with you to determine the roles you are most qualified for, and to guide you through the process and requirements to get started in your state.

A Kelly Education recruiter will walk you through the specific requirements, but typical requirements for Volusia County Schools are as follows:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

While every role in education has unique requirements, having an Education degree or prior work experience is typically not required for most roles.

Pay rates for substitute educators at Volusia County Schools are as follows:

• Substitute teacher: $15/hr
• Substitute Teacher-ESE Separate Class & Middle Schools: $16/hr
• Substitute teacher (retired VCS teachers): $17.50/hr
• Substitue Teacher-Retired VCS & ESE separate class & MS: $18.50
• Substitute paraprofessional ( including ESE, PreK, VPK): $15/hr
• Long Term Teacher- FL Certified, Temp Certified or Statement of Elig only- 31+ days. *No retro to Day 1: TBD

Pay rates are determined by the school district.

Payday is weekly on Fridays.

Here is a general idea of what you can expect:

1. Submit application. Let us know you’re interested and a Kelly Education recruiter will follow up with you on next steps.
2. Fill out a prescreen form. This will be sent to you to confirm that a few minimum requirements are met.
3. Join a virtual group interview. Learn more about our available positions in your area and see if a job in education is a good fit.
4. Complete our online classroom management training. This free, required training will prepare you to be a confident in your new role.
5. Pass a background check. Fingerprinting and background checks are completed to ensure a safe environment for students.
6. Attend our paid orientation. Learn about the policies and procedures for working with Kelly Education and the education institution.
7. Start working!

Most positions allow for flexible schedules, however there is typically enough work opportunity if a steady schedule is what you are looking for.

Prior to your first work assignment, you receive free online training that is tailored to the work you will be doing. Free professional development courses are always available to you, covering a variety of topics that are relevant for substitute teachers, paraeducators, tutors, early childhood educators, food service, custodial, nurse, clerical positions and more.
